O mně

Moje fotka
Welcome to my blog. I come from the Czech Republic and at the moment I am studying English and Literature at University in Usti nad Labem. I have created this blog for the purpose of PC skills. I would like to memorize my travel experiences here and I think that this is a good opportunity to learn something new.

Venezuela 2008-2009

I have been to many countries but first of all I have to mention Venezuela. I have had a great opportunity to live there and visit many interesting towns and places.
This picture is taken on Isla Margarita and it is a typical architecture in the whole country. The houses are small, colourful and full of cockroaches.  Of course the buildings in big towns are very modern and the globalization is visible in the whole world, Venezuela included.

Caracas
This part of the capital is called Hatillo. It is one of the most visited places and you can buy a lot of souvenirs there. These little houses are called "ranchos". Many ranchos are very dangerous and it is not recommended to go there at any time of the day. This one is one of the oldest and it is not a place to be afraid. Local people are used to visitors and tourists. The big problem is that there are no sewage drains and only some parts have electricity.
Isla Margarita
I lived for a while in Caracas and on an island which is already mentioned above, Isla Margarita. It lies in the Caribbean Sea and it takes about 45 minutes by plane from Caracas. It is a small island with long beaches. My favourite beach was Playa el Aqua where we used to spend many hours.  The funniest thing is that after 6 months being there we were spoilt to go swimming if the temperature was 26 degrees or less. We got freezing easily:).

Fauna and Flora
Venezuela has the most beautiful fauna and flora I have ever seen to. There are so many birds of different shapes and colours, many insects (which are often your daily uninvited visitors in your house), reptiles etc. I just loved sitting in the park and listening to flocks of green parrots.
This picture was taken in Avila. It is an enormous natural park in Caracas. Always watch out when walking there. It would not be a pleasure to step on a poisonous snake there, believe me!
